The National Association of Maritime Pilots of Colombia (ANPRA) successfully held the third edition of the Congress on Lessons Learned from Major Accidents and Incidents in Pilotage Manoeuvres, further consolidating its status as an international benchmark in maritime safety.
Over the course of three days, national and international experts, authorities, industry associations, tech companies, and maritime organisations analysed real-life cases, shared insights, and debated the most effective strategies for preventing incidents during pilotage operations.
The event, held in Bogotá, focused on learning from past experiences, with the aim of enhancing safety and operational efficiency in both port and river environments.
Among the international speakers was Hiades Business Partners, a technology consultancy with a presence in Europe and Latin America, specialising in digitalisation and knowledge management in maritime settings. The company showcased its AMURA solutions ecosystem, through presentations by its CEO, Airam Rodríguez, and Isaac González de Vega, Head of Maritime Business Development.
During the congress, Isaac González demonstrated how smart digitalisation — through the integration of sensors, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics — is transforming the operational management of pilotage. He presented real-world cases showing risk reduction and emphasised the need for cultural transformation within organisations.
Meanwhile, Airam Rodríguez addressed traditional risks in the ship-port interface and explained how technologies such as PortCDM, IoT, digital twins, and real-time monitoring are driving a shift towards safer, more efficient port operations built on data and collaboration.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation by the Vice-President of EMPA (European Maritime Pilots’ Association) and President of the Pilots’ Corporation of Palma de Mallorca, José Antonio Pérez Lorente, who introduced the mobile application EMPAsafe, developed in collaboration with AMURA. EMPAsafe exemplifies the potential of digitalisation to enhance pilotage safety and promote a more collaborative and informed culture among maritime professionals.
The ANPRA 2025 Congress underscored the importance of analysing real experiences as a cornerstone of collective learning, crucial for fostering prevention, cooperation, and continuous improvement in navigation.
