After months of work, today SEAPort (Ship Efficient Approach at Port) Solutions S.L. has been constituted, an entity participated by the Valenciaport Foundation, Infoport Valencia and Híades Consulting, which was created with the aim of developing solutions and offering technological services that improve the efficiency of the port calls of ships through shared digital information.
The services of SEAPort Solutions are aimed at port authorities and operators and arise from the interest received in Spain and Latin America.
The PAULA platform (Platform for AUtomatically LinKing Agents), the result of R&D&I projects between the consortium of companies, is a pioneering tool in the maritime-port sector that will facilitate the exchange of data, through the brand new international standard IALA-S211, between all the agents involved in the processes of port calls. The tool has the capacity to be adapted to the characteristics of each port and its operations. Thanks to this innovative software, the authorities and operators will be able to increase the efficiency of the port call processes, helping to reduce the average time ships spend in port and, therefore, improving the efficiency of the port.
To ensure the success of the implementation, Seaport Solutions offers consultancy services focused on analysing the current situation and resources of the ports for the exchange of information and defining in a consensual way the scope of the technical developments to be addressed in order to optimise the port call processes.
The three partners of the new company played a key role in defining the scope and requirements, deploying the solution and integrating the systems in the port of Valencia as part of the validation of the PortCDM (Port Collaborative Decision Making) concept, within the framework of the European STM (Sea Traffic Management) Validation project.
The pilot tests of this concept showed that only 40% to 65% of the time spent in port is dedicated to loading and unloading processes, confirming the potential margin for improvement of these processes.
With this new alliance, we are making progress in specialisation and innovation in the maritime-port sector, hand in hand with two partners with extensive experience and knowledge of the sector. We are convinced of the success of this initiative.
